About

I am a Safeguarding & Accountability Consultant, specialising in Child Safeguarding and PSEAH (Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment). My primary degree is in Geography and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin. My masters from University College Dublin is in Humanitarian Assistance. I have been working for International NGOs for the past 25 years, with over 10 years field experience.

I am currently based out of my home in Sligo, Ireland.

Although spending most of that time in Eastern and Southern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola and Mozambique), I have also worked in West and Central Africa (Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo) as well as some time working in Latin America (Paraguay and Bolivia) and Asia (Nepal, Thailand and Philippines).

Most of my field work has been with street children and orphans and vulnerable children, as well as working in community development projects focusing on education and health. In recent years, I have focused mainly on training of safeguarding personnel in several organisations, as well as conducting safeguarding audits and more recently I have been heavily engaged in the management of safeguarding investigations.

To date, I have delivered more than one hundred safeguarding workshops in over 30 countries across 5 continents.
